2013 - 2014 Match Year

Dear Intern Applicant,

Welcome to the CVCH website that describes the APPIC aligned –  Predoctoral Internship in Clinical Psychology, offered in the Department of Behavioral Medicine at Columbia Valley Community Health in Wenatchee. This program is NOT a member of or accredited by APA.  This predoctoral internship program offers an indepth training experience in clinical and health psychology services at a community health center.  With emphases on support and flexibility, our objective is to refine interns' clinical and scholarly skills so that interns are prepared for work in a variety of settings.

The following information is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the CVCH training program. We look forward to answering any specific questions you might have that are not included in this description.

To apply, you follow the APPIC guidelines of submitting information via the AAPI Applicant Portal to our training site.  To have your application considered complete a cover letter, complete AAPI application information, 3 letters of reference and one of which should be from your Director of Clinical Training, transcripts from graduate work.  Additionally, submit an intake report or other piece of clinical writing on a case you felt was interesting or exceptional in some way.  Applications are due December 1st.  Candidates that we are interested in interviewing by phone will be notified of our interest by December 15th and a phone interview will be scheduled.  Following the phone interviews, select candidates are offered an in-person interview.  If all materials listed have not been submitted then applicants will not be ranked for the match.

REMINDER:  All candidates that will be considered must be able to be licensed in Washington State as LMHC, LMSW, LicSW, or LMFT at time of internship start.  This requires 3000 hours of supervised work.  See the DOH website http://www.doh.wa.gov/hsqa/professions/mentalhealth/documents/MHappWeb.pdf for more details.

We know how tedious and anxiety-provoking the application and interview process is, so allow us to answer your questions or explain the program to you.  Feel free to contact our current interns as they are happy to answer questions.

The internship runs from July 15, 2013 to July 18, 2013 for 1 full year. The stipend is $20,000, and currently there are not additional funds for travel to professional conferences in the budget, but this may change as the year progresses.  Along with sick days and holidays, interns have two weeks of paid vacation. “Vacation” here means lying on a beach, not defending a dissertation or attending meetings.

We will do our best to make this application and interview process as painless as possible. Thank you for your interest in our internship program. We look forward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes,
Julie A. Rickard, Ph.D.
